I love the scene in Festival Express with Rick Danko. If both Jerry and Janis give you motherly looks of concern, you know that's some serious fucked-upedness.

First off, Festival Express was a real fuckin' hoot and some great music t'boot.

Ain't No More Cane is a beauty of a tune and Levon knocks it out of the park. Love Jay's version too. Thank god for Itunes so i didn't have to buy the retrospective just for that and Got to Know.

I heard that it was a Texas prison song, which makes sense when you listen to the lyrics. First time I heard it was on Bob Dylan & the Band/Basement Tapes, with a mighty fine lead vocal from Levon.

Where did the song No More Cain come from?
I was just watching the absolutely incredible film Festival Express, and was surprised to hear a great rendetion of it on the train sung by Rick Danko and Janis Joplin with Jerry Garcia on guitar.

Just curious of where the song came from, I knew it wasn't a jay original but didn't know it's history.
