I always watched the news when he was on,seemed a knowledgeable and personable guy on screen.

He was a long time smoker and contracted lung cancer...

Glad I quit 2 years ago...

He was very personable... I never enjoyed his slanted view of Christianity (if you recall, he hosted a number of shows about Jesus, Paul, the Resurrection, the Da Vinci Code, etc... all very biased against orthodox Christianity)... but I did think he was a man of character and enjoyed his work on nightly news.

He was my favorite Nightly news Broadcaster. Rather was an idiot and I alway had trouble listening to Brokaw (sp)
