"Word" on street: Brother Dade with CF at the Pageant. In case that makes a difference?

I got the sense it was a way for them to let loose before getting serious with jay's songs. At the OP show, it was just a blistering fun set of country-tonking rave ups that let Andrew get to sing a tune, mark and Gary get nasty trading solos, and a few beers to get 'em ready for the son volt set.

I was glad it was not some other band to be honest.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think Jay would open his own show, but I was hoping :(

No, unfortunately he does not. Nor does Jay's brother. The band simply consists of everyone in Son Volt except Jay -- Mark, Gary, Andrew, and Dave. They're a lot of fun and very much worth seeing, but to me it feels like a warm-up or a soundcheck rather than an opening act. I prefer to have an entirely separate act to open a show. Perhaps I'm strange, but I like the excitement of seeing the headlining band emerge on stage for their set all at once, and not to have been seen prior.

Colonel Ford opener

While purchasing tickets to the June show in Indy, I noticed that Colonel Ford is listed as the opener.

Please forgive me if this has already been discussed, but does Jay play with them when they open SV shows?
