Glenn Beck/Godspeed You Black Emperor
Regarding the map: According to the Huffington Post this was a graphic that Fox News put up back in 2009. "So while the map itself may have been a legitimate gaffe on Fox News' part (and not the work of a miscreant with mad Photoshop skills) it's at the very least, an old gaffe."
I gather that this was then circulated widely at around the time that Calexico posted it on this thread.
Doesn't bode well for Fox, eh? Even if it is two years old. At the very least I would hope that a few heads rolled on that one...and not just the person who physically inputted the names (Megaballs; I guess news organizations DO take a blank map and in-put names! I never would have thought such a thing possible, but it is either that or someone deliberately changed things around).

So in this case, yes, there is a big difference. Why not open a book or read a newspaper? In this case it is quite literally politically correct to acknowlege that the two states are very different. It's not some effete limousine liberal blather. It's just reality.
Re the map, I don't think it's indicative of either geopolitical ignorance or willful mischief by Fox News. Probably just a clerical/processing error. Happens all the time on newscasts - a graphic or canned audio doesn't match up with what the talking head is reading, etc.
Today's political situation doesn't come in to this, neither does history. Fox News brings the world in a black and white image, black is most of the world, especially the Muslim world, white is Glenn Beck and his cronies.
To Fox News, the world map might just look like that. Glenn Beck and rest of the world.
If you want to start a rant based on ANYTHING that was said or written or talked about on Fox News, you're welcome to, it completely meaningless however.

I guess I was one of those people. You are quite correct. As soon as I posted I started wondering about that. I should have questioned it first, before posting, rather than just figuring that it "fit" the other bizarreness that I would hear about from my Fox loving friends so it could very well be the real thing. So I will assume that it is fake as well.megaballs1 wrote:I'm guessing the map is a fake...do news organizations pull up maps to air but then have to input country names? No. People actually look at this and think Fox doesn't know where Iraq or Egypt is?
Just fun on the intranets nowadays.

I mean, look at this simple fuck up and please tell me how so many Americans look to this sham organisation for their actual news. Are people that fucking stupid?
Is this fucking REAL?
Did they really have this map on the air?
Mapmaker shakes head in disbelief.....

Incredible. I mean incredibly stupid. I'd think it was funny except I meet with a group of people who watch this shit and I always leave with my head spinning. But to blank out Iraq, where we're fighting a war, and put Egypt there instead. I am utterly speechless.calexico wrote:....
