thanks man! i couldn't tell from the Sarno website. unfortunate but used. kind of like life sometimes.Mark Spencer wrote:unchartedthickets wrote:does it take a ts or trs or both? i guess you're running it between the instrument and amp to color and reamp the signal...then it might just workMark Spencer wrote:Just got the wonderful black box, with the foreign voltage switch, used it here in italy, certainly glad i had it when i had to use a jc-120 for steel, made it sound like an actual amp!
like a standard pedal and only take the ts and therefore be unbalanced...
Have you ever used the Radial pres? i think i can remember seeing the
Tonebone somewhere in yours or Jay's pedal assortment.
I've never owned a Marshall but have seen a couple vintage blues breakers
that've gotten my panties wet.
Unbalanced. TS.
Jay does have the (unfortunately named) Tonebone on his PB.

Sarno and Stamler are some good names in these parts. They're true audiophile equipment makers/designers. Can't drop 310.00 right now but
for a self contained single channel pre that's made by a highly regarded
engineer, that's a deal! You have to write good songs and own your material first before any of this shit is going to work for you. hmmm, i wonder if it has a balanced input?

I meant to mention that it is the Black Box preamp, specifically, that I was referring to: http://www.sarnomusicsolutions.com/products/sgbb.html

Attn Gearheads - Jay's pedal steel preamp
A friend of mine in St. Louis, Brad Sarno, makes this preamp for pedal steel guitar. Jay uses one when he plays pedal steel with Colonel Ford, and Mark Spencer may have worked it into his rig already, not sure about that. I use one as a preamp for my acoustic guitar and love what it does for the tone. Thought I'd pass it along. Here's the website:
