This sort of request is savagely hard. There is so much great stuff released every year that it boggles the mind to try and single out something as being so much better than anything else.


Based on plays alone I would say maybe Arcade Fire's Funeral or Primal Scream's XTRMNTR.

Based on most spins:

Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot edges out Slobberbone's Everything You Thought Was Right Was Wrong Today but only by a nose.

One Fast Move is rapidly rising up that list though! Probably already in my top 5.
