I think a comparison is completely valid. I also firmly believe the "best since Trace" comment. American Central Dust is that fucking good. Those that can't get on board are either not listening, lazy, or not fans of Son Volt.

Trace remains the best album I've ever heard. :!: And "Out of the Picture" remains my favorite SV song. No question. I will say, however, that right now I can't stop listening to "Low Life Kingdom." But that's not SV, that's Farrar/Kerouac, so...

Some good discussion going on here. Love the one night stand/marry analogy regarding TB & Trace. TB is an amazing album, but come on danmen.... Better than Trace?

Terroir Blues is a one night stand. Trace is the girl you marry. Hard to say they are even close in my mind, and I like TB.

Just listened to Trace for the first time in a while because of your post. If there is a better album top to bottom out there, I haven't heard it. Amazing stuff.

Just listened to Trace for the first time in a while because of your post. If there is a better album top to bottom out there, I haven't heard it. Amazing stuff.
