Yeah it seems to be a record most folks missed the boat on.She should`ve played more fiddle on it but a solid set of tunes.

Barclock, great call on Caitlin Cary. That's a great album.

A couple of "newer" bands that I haven't seen mentioned are deserving of some love in my opinion:

Grand Champeen- "Battle Cry for Help"
Glossary- "How We Handle Our Midnights"
Two Cow Garage- "The Wall Against Our Backs" or "Speaking in Cursive"

As far as Townes goes, nothing beats "Live at the Old Quarter".

Nice analogy...and nice use of the word "tantamount".

Good list, but for me you have to include Townes Van Zandt's Live at The Old Quarter or just about anything else of his, along with Guy Clark's Cold Dog Soup or Dublin Blues. In my humble opinion, Jay is our generations Townes as far as songwriting, without all the alcohol/drug issues Townes had.

After posting it here, it was the one I ended up listening to yesterday. As you say, a great record.

If Dylan gets two that means Son Volt should qualify for multiples! (But then again, this is YOUR list...but what the hell, I'll throw a bunch more out there as food for thought):

Son Volt Straightaways and Wide Swing Tremelo
Alejandro Escovedo A Man Under the Influence
Blue Mountain Midnight in Mississippi (unless it hasn't stood the test of time test, in which case maybe the Ryan Bingham hasn't either...but then your thread isn't titled "classic").
Blue Rodeo Casino and Five Days in July (yes 1/2, you are spot on).
Bottle Rockets (they get multiples as well, why not?) Zoysia and 24 Hours a Day
Golden Smog Down by the old Mainstream
Grateful Dead American Beauty and Working Man's Dead
Jay Farrar Sebastopol
Jayhawks Tomorrow the Green Grass (yes, Hollywood Town Hall is my favorite, but this is bloody good as well).
Gene Clark and Carla Olson So Rebellious a Lover
Michael Nesmith and the First National Band Magnetic South and Loose Salute (combo cd)
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Uncle Charlie and His Dog
Ozark Mountain Daredevils self-titled and The Car over the Lake Album
Ryan Adams and the Cardinals Cold Roses
Steve Forbert Rocking Horse Head
Wilco Being There

No disrespect...but I don't think Ryan Bingham is very good...I've seen him and and I was unimpressed to say the least..

It amazes me that Bingham appeared on Austin City Limits with his inexperience. When a band like the Bottle Rockets has not (being a bit of a homer here)...Not sure what he has done to garner that amount of juice....

He's just not very good (imho)
