There is a perfume advert over here (uk) using Just Like Honey by The Jesus and Mary Chain. Having been to a few J&MC gigs back in the day I can only imagine that the perfume has an aroma of patuli oil, Stale piss and Tennants Super

I'll never forget seeing a band I had never heard of opening for The Replacements, Fall 1984, Oklahoma City. They totally blew the roof off the place. That band? The Who.

Other Alternative bands of the 80's that later had songs used in commercials:

Led Zep, Rock & Roll - Cadillac commercials
Rolling Stones, Start Me Up - Windows 95
Hank Jr - Monday Night Football
I don't give a damn if it is tweety, that is the type of sarcastic wit that makes me laugh out loud.

would of thought that t>f
would of mentioned a
Stiff Little Fingers song

The W.A.N.D - Flaming Lips was played in either a VW or an Apple commercial last year.

and

The Bleeding Heart Show - The New Pornographers was played in the University of Arizona or Phoenix or something commercial.
