Really? What era was that? Back in the Trace days, I would imagine, but up until when? I am just curious because ever since I discovered the internets it's been the other way around. Man, when will these reviewers simply start critiquing the music/lyrics on the record itself and quit the totally irrelevant comparisions as if it were some kind of competition.
Yes, mainly Trace and AM. I'd say when Being There came out there were a few of those comparisons being thrown around.

The Onion only likes easy listening music that can be played on XRT. The guitars are simply too loud on The Search.

Jay, on the other hand, I'll always buy on faith. He's never let me down.

The Woody Guthrie thing Tweedy did with Billy Bragg was good. I'm planning on going to Bonnaroo. Wilco will be there with the Police, White Stripes, and Flaming Lips. I'll listen with an open mind.

Tweedy still does UT songs live. I'll give him a great deal of credit for that.
Tweedy has alot of good stuff. Being There is a great album. I've known a couple UT fans who preferred Farrar and never listened to wilco, and I've pointed them to Being There and they've liked it. His songs for Golden Smog are also very good, "Please Tell My Brother", what a beautiful, sad song. I like everything between Being There and YHF the most, which makes me wonder how much of what I liked was actually Jay Bennett, but I give Tweedy the most credit.

It's tough to find fault with Summerteeth. Did I ever give you the demos, Greg?
No and I am pretty sure it was not included as a bonus disc.
 I'll get it to you.
Thanks I would like to hear that.

What Light is great, but it's the only song I liked on my first couple of listens.

For the record, I too am a Wilco fan. One of my two favorite concerts in '05 was Wilco. And, my wife likes them. When I have my Saturday CD rotation going, she always request Summerteeth. But, when it comes to lyrics, Dylan, Jay and Waits are my mainstays.

I find it has more soul than A Ghost ... but it is very mellow. They have been periodically streaming it on the website. Keep checking for the next time.
