Beautiful location, laid back, lots of good music. Anyone agree to disagree?

I hear Damn Shame is a good song for the kiddies.cind wrote:My little shorty is still lovin' THE GOB. Current fave, Death is only a Dream, she will often sing it as I am putting her to bed. I have played The Picture for her a few times, and she was bopping around to it. Must do more intensive listening of The Search!

I have a 3 year old girl who asks for "takin your troubles away" every time we get in the car. She has an affinity for the Austin Cityt Limits version. The only song she asks for as much is "jokin at all" (Every Kinda Everything). She is already diggin "Methamphetamine," which is a very good thing. She only heard it about ten times over coffee this morning. Maybe I'm biased. Who cares? This is the best album of 2007. Trace is in it's own stratosphere, but this is right in line with Straightaways. Cannot wait to hear these songs live.

I just had to comment on this thread...
I have two sons, 6 and 9, and they are some of Jay's biggest fans. We listen to SV/UT every single morning on the way to school. Some of their fave songs are No Depression, Chickamauga, Windfall, Gramophone, and Drown.
I would love to take them to see SV live, but all the venues around here they play at are 21 and up. I'm thinking about taking them to Wakarusa in June, just so they can see Jay... anyone ever been to this festival? Is it pretty kid-friendly?

Bedtime songs
I have been signing almost every night to my 3 1/2 year old daughter either SV's "No More Cane" or "Barstow." Sometimes, Gob Iron's "Hard Times." From The Search, I'm thinking about trying out "Highway & Cigarettes" but I'd rather her not go to bed thinking about cigrarettes. "Bicycle Hotel" might be a good one to try also.

Yeah my daughter who is seven months was bouncing and clapping along to the same song....rattle toy in hand. How funny. Right now she is rocking out to Saturday Morning by Eels. It's become our start of the weekend anthem.
Saturday Morning
And who's gonna play with me?
Six in the morning, baby
I got a long, long day ahead of me

This morning I was eating breakfast with my 2 year old son and The Picture came on. He started bobbing his head, and said, "Daddy, I'm rocking out." I think Jay might be big with the 5 and under set.
