You pay your money, take your chances
The wheel spinning going round and round
No angels hanging from the ceiling can save you now
No No No Saint Jude can't pull you out

I'm about to start an Aimee Mann thread... this is soooo incredible... I've had 2 of her CDs for years and liked them but never got into my heavy rotation...

viva teh iPod and my strange curiousity that made me load Lost in Space last night...

Well - I'm currently listening to my sweet little Sister and my Brother-In-Law singing Put Me In Your Pocket; this is my Grandparent's favorite song, they've always sang it to each other. My Sister did this song last weekend at the Anniversary party. We all sang, my sisters, my brother, me and my son, my Mom, her cousins ... Anyhow, I know most of you have heard me sing all sorts of stuff, but if you want to hear my sweet Sister, here's your chance:

It's very sappy; especially considering the whole war-time situation with my Grandpa back then, and the current health-problems my Grandma is having. Put it this way, the songs we all chose to perform for this function completely owned. Not a dry eye for MILES of this biotch. Zane and I are re-recording our hits for the "Soundtrack" to this event that I'm putting together to give to my Grandparents. This soundtrack is going to be astoundingly good, especially ifyou're related to me. Ha!

Still listening to those Jeffrey Foucault downloads from his website. Man is a great picker and singer. Totally reminds me of Kelly Joe Phelps and that is no small recommendation.

I got that Damnwells record... it's pretty good, but it you mentioned what I suspected - I bet they are very good live... the songs are good, but something in the CD's production leaves me wanting... I would like to see them live, so I'm keeping my eyes open. Sleepsinging is a GREAT song.

Anyway -
The new Nano is on shuffle today...

Well, they didn't and I gotta tell ya, they are better live than the record, but still you get the drift. They are Brooklyn, NY-based and always are in the Philly area, nice guys too. They'll shake your hand, have a beer and give ya a shoutout if they remember....I got "Sleepwalking" footnoted to me at the show at NXNW in Mt. Airy (aka Philly). They're cool. BUy the album and support up and comers like these dudes. Also, Ray Lamontagne's "Trouble" has been an oft-played thing around here. My 4 month old LOVES him and Son Volt...and the July 4, 2001 Wilco concert (Jay B.'s swan song, no?) boot from Chicago. Kamera just kills.
Love, love, love the Damnwells. I was at that TLA show too (after seeing Alex open for Rhett Miller at the Bowery Ballroom, I was hooked). I've seen them several times and you're right -- nice guys. I can't wait for their new album, Air Stereo, due out in May I think.

A few months ago, we were talking current music, and he said "there just isn't any good music any more", and I had to remind him that he still has no taste.
Sad state of affairs ... Fortunately nobody here seems to have that horrid affliction.
