This is one of my all-time favorite boots, I've made many a copy for my non-trading friends. When taking a top-down curvy mountain road trip, I ALWAYS have disc 1 with me for the first five songs at least. Lucky as hell I haven't got a speeding or wreckless ticket yet listening to this!
The Damnwells, "Bastards of the Beat" These guys opened for the Old 97's at the TLA a few back and I might say, converted teh entire fuckin' audience of hardline '97 fans who, prior to The Damnwells taking the stage, were only hoping that "these guys don't suck." Well, they didn't and I gotta tell ya, they are better live than the record, but still you get the drift. They are Brooklyn, NY-based and always are in the Philly area, nice guys too. They'll shake your hand, have a beer and give ya a shoutout if they remember....I got "Sleepwalking" footnoted to me at the show at NXNW in Mt. Airy (aka Philly). They're cool. BUy the album and support up and comers like these dudes. Also, Ray Lamontagne's "Trouble" has been an oft-played thing around here. My 4 month old LOVES him and Son Volt...and the July 4, 2001 Wilco concert (Jay B.'s swan song, no?) boot from Chicago. Kamera just kills.
Listening to a compilation of website downloads I put together from the page of a guy called Jeffrey Foucault. He reminds me of Kelly Joe Phelps a lot.
