Your rebuttal is stunning.

I like this one, it doesn't get skipped at least, but Circadian and Phosphate get played about 3x more than the rest of the album. FWIW, Adrenaline and L Train immediately grabbed my attention, no warming up to them was needed (as well as with Circadian, easily my favorite). But with Phosphate it took a little while before it sunk in. ANYWAY...yes, Adrenaline is yet another example of how Jay's prose rules my ass. :)

Couldn't agree with you Adrenaline and Heresy cats more, top song on the album in my humble opinion although it annoyed me at first. Seems like some of you that love this song love L-Train as well which has annoyed me thus far, just something about it, I think the transitions in it annoy me or something. I will give it more air time though to see if I'm missing something. I'm seeing them in Atlanta tomorrow night so maybe that will shed some light on it. Too bad A&H is the best song on the album but to my knowledge it hasn't been played live yet. I think it was Matt that mentioned getting choked up over the transition in that song. Couldn't agree more, the song is just great. I was trying to explain to a friend recently why I don't care for certain Son Volt songs such as Automatic Society and Satellite, and the best way I could put it is that when it comes to Farrar-related stuff, if it doesn't move me it doesn't matter, I guess that's the best way I can put it.

bleed the line is great.

andrenaline and heresy hits close to home so many times for me. jay puts common relationship situations in a context that you rarely hear these days. so much of the crap you hear on the radio about love and relationships are described the same, you broke my heart, i'm crying blah, blah, blah.

jay comes with

no collection of words can describe it
can describe it
a concrete conscience here is worth nil
a placebo pill full of bitter comfort

i mean the shit is genius. i feel sorry for people who don't get his writing and don't enjoy it the way i do.

The rest I hear the same, but this line I hear as "a concrete conscience here's worth nil"

And let's not forget L Train. I don't get why more people don't dig that song. It's totally original, and shows great growth for Jay as a songwriter.

I listen to that song many times a day.

And the little keyboard thing rocks.

Exactly. This was an instant classic for me. It's beautiful and just awful at the same time - a kind of horrible sublime capturing of many many relationships.
yeah, mine included.

A beautiful song because it is so honest. This type of writing keeps me coming back to JF's music. Honesty and Truth with no sense of romanticism or phoniness. I think I have the following correct -

It’s been slow a good show just the same
Been hanging on so long. Hanging on for so long
Out of your arms and into the absence pit
No collection of words can describe it, can describe itA concrete consciousness hears what nil
Placebo pill for bitter comfort, bitter comfort

I think it's one of the prettiest songs Jay has ever wrote.
I could just see him playing this on an old upright piano. 8)

It's my most favoritest as well.

Sorry for breaking the "ditto that" chain. Someone had to.
