I think I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on this album.
Yeah, they are great songs. I can really identify with Slate. God knows mine isn't squeaky clean. Maybe after some sanding.

Fifteen Keys gets better with every listen.

I'm glad I bought this album and finally gave it a chance.

Dude, it's Doug. It's like trying to convince the Amish that remote controls aren't the devil's work.
Are there Irish Amish?
Why not? If Eddie Murphy can claim some sort of Irishness let the Amish do the same.

I think most Amish come from a lineage of pennsylvania dutch, but i dont think its unreasonable that they might have some irish in them.

You guys are baitin' me. You can't honestly believe that Tweedy doesn't have an amazing canon of songs. You guys are too sharp.

Oh don’t fret about just getting this record. Enjoy the intrinsic earthiness – the goodness of Anodyne, with its quiet insistence that, as suspected, Jay Farrar has always been and will always remain constantly involved with all that rocks and matters; through the creation, preservation and redemption of all things kick-ass in life. Enjoy!

i agree, i love those two. despite how "simple" the long cut is, i think it is catchy and the lyrics are good.

Not to make a funny thing out of something as tragic as chickamauga. It's a serious song.

I'm still fairly new to Uncle Tupelo's Anodyne. At first, I thought it was too slow in spots and there was too much space in between verses, like in Slate or Fifteen keys. I always skipped over Acuff-Rose, but The Long Cut and Give Back to Key are good enough to carry this album into multiple listens.
Oh man...Slate and 15 Keys are two of Jay's best songs ever, whereas The Long Cut isn't even a top 10 Tweedy UT song.

I think I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on this album.

I think The Long Cut and We've Been Had are two of his best.
