Yeah I know. Somehow my brain always transmits SUN to my hand, no matter how much someone is anal about it and corrects me. I will probably keep writing SUN , no matter how much I try not to. Course I know who they are, and they do too, so, to hell with how I write it. Its a mental block. Now if I dont get a good tape of em, or i somehow dont get to see em, thatll be a mistake.
Been listenin to em since UT disbanded, and know what their name is, but never write it correctly.Maybe one day my mental blockll dissapear.

No one uses a min cassette, (hope not anyway)

Tapers typically use DAT Decks or Hard Disk Devices, such as the Nomad Jukebox3( http://www.nomadworld.com/products/Jukebox3/)(which I cannot praise enough) to store the files. Dat Decks of course use DAT Tapes, and The Nomad Jukebox 3 of course just stores the recording to a hard disk for easy transfer to a computer.Other HD(hard disk) devices are being developed constantly. One that is gaining in popularity, and seems to be the one people are seeking is the sound devices 722.http://www.sounddevices.com/products/7.htm All these are simply storage devices, that sometimes have a built in ADC(analog to digital converter) that converts the signal of your ANALOG source to 0s and 1s that the computer can understand.
Of course, what makes the real difference is the preamp, cabling, and mic selection. Sometimes a preamp is needed between the mics and recorder to boost the signal. Cables make a huge difference as well. You can have a 50,000 dollar recorder, but as long as the signal that comes into it is from a 20 dollar Walmart microphone, it still will sound horrible. So basically 4 things are used. 1)Mics which go to2.)Mic Cables which go to 3.) preamp or battery box(sometimes)4.)recorder(basically just used for storage

The software that is used to convert a 16/44.1 WAV into a FLAC is called flac frontend. Flac is a great format, and now NERO 6(another great program) allows us to burn FLAC files straight to a cd that can be played anywhere. You have to d/l the FLAC plugin for nero, and unzip it into the flac audio plugins folder.

When you see a taper at a show, please be accomodating, dont yell around our mics, or spill beer on our equipment, just let us do our thing so that we can get the show up on Easytree or bt.etree, etc, so that we can spread the music.
THis was just an overview.
