You can hear "Bakersfield" here.
(It starts at the 34:05 mark of the podcast.)
(It starts at the 34:05 mark of the podcast.)
there are 3 songs under 3minutes
2 songs barely over 4minutes
11 songs total
This would be perfect for an Austin City Limits episode (they play so much shit on there these days).
If you took Windfall-Hanging Blue Side-Dynamite-
Methamphetamine-Joe Citizen Blues-some whiskey-lap\pedal steel-cowboy boots-a dusty wooden dance floor-dim lights and________ (you fill in the blank) its "Honky Tonk".
pre-order it pronto!

" if you like the 2-steppin', 50's\60's honky tonk\jukebox-with-a-whiskey-in-hand stuff, you're gonna shit when you hear this album." seriously, have you heard it? i'm f'n jealous too but i ain't gonna fault ya for hav'n the privilege. these descriptions are fantastic!thatbeat wrote:i wish i could...
Down the Highway: great tune!
"There's a world of wisdom inside a fiddle tune
Throw this love down the highway, see where it takes you"
Seawall- another awesome song!
"There's a gulf that flows between and the seawalls wearing down\
Two honky tonk angels still walk this ground"
Mark Spencer- bad ass on the lap and pedal steel- this guy just adds so much to each song.
I'm assuming that Gary is doing the fiddle- this is too much for me- it all melts together.... unreal.
if you like the 2-steppin', 50's\60's honky tonk\jukebox-with-a-whiskey-in-hand stuff, you're gonna shit when you hear this album.
hopefully somebody like NPR will stream this thing soon. it needs to be heard by the masses. get your tickets NOW if he's playing anywhere within driving distance.
see you at the OP show.

How have you had the chance to hear it?! So f'n jealous!thatbeat wrote:It's pure Bakersfield sound, takes you back to another time and place.
Lots of acoustic guitar, steel guitar a'plenty, you feel like you're in a real honky tonk.
Like when Jake and Elwood had bottles tossed at them...
Makes you want to two-step with your Betty (or Beau)...
It's kin to American Central Dust, still blood, but more like a slightly distant relative...
Can't find a fault here.
