Ahahahahaha... nice pics! And to think, if I had only moved over a half a foot, my ear could have made it into your pics too
Yeah I know, plenty late on this whole posting thing, but I don't think I'm quite as die hard as some of you. Especially 'straightaways', I saw her singin' along, she knew ALL the words.
The room was quite empty at first. We got there just at around 9:15 and there were about 10 people in the room. It filled up a good bit though. People definitely hung back. There was quite a bit of room up at the very front. The problem is Lee's has a really high stage now so, the very front wouldn't have been a great spot. You wouldn't have had a very good view and probably would have ended up with a sore neck!
This was my frist Jay Farrar show as well and I loved it! what a voice! I was majorly impressed with Mark as well. Amazing player. Narrowed down my pics and made a clubphoto album. Noticed they all started to look the same after awhile.
Interseting to see 6 String Belief and Fools Kings crown not on the list. FKC was fantastic when I saw him with Canyon. Perhaps it is better with the additional instramentation.
Was at show last night and it was truly amazing. Mark was incredible and the sound was excellent. This was the culmination of a great string of concerts starting with Wilco last year followed by The Jayhawks, Centromatic in Buffalo and My Morning Jacket. Felt truly privileged to hear so much good live music in a short time.
Would have to say I had found TB to be a disappointment but after hearing the songs live last night I think I really appreciated what great songs are on that album and have now started to re-listen to it more carefully. Oddly I was very excited at hearing the Son Volt stuff (probably my favourite) but they were not among the numbers that stood out. Possibly due to the lack of a band or perhaps less put into them...who knows...just surprising.
Anyhow I am sure I'll see you all at the next one.
I was the tall guy with the short wife (whom I generally drag to these events....luckily she really enjoyed last nights). Definitely saw Timmy up front
Thanks Sawyer, I had Jay's two full length solo albums but did not have his EP. But I remedied that last night as I picked up a used copy of "ThirdShiftGrottoSlack" at an independant record store called Sonic Boom just outside the Lee's Palace last night.
I also picked up the new live album "Stone, Steel & Bright Lights" at Sam The Record Man on Yonge Street, which also has a version of the song so I'm sure I'll know the song well next time I see it live.
Now here's the complete set from Lee's Palace (the details of what the instrumentation is on one of my earlier posts):
1. Greenwich Time
2. Make It Alright
2. Feel Free
4. No Rolling Back
5. Cahokian
6. All Of Your Might
7. Heart On The Ground
8. Barstow
9. Damn Shame
10. Driving The View
11. Vitamins
12. Feed Kill Chain
13. California
14. Voodoo Candle
15. Straightface
E: 16. Tear-Stained Eye
17. Doesn't Have To Be That Way
18. Windfall
E2: Love You To
I did not see Mrs. Farrar (unfortunately, I wouldn't know her if I saw her as I have no idea what she looks like). But Shannon Lyon did say he had the entire family with him.

"Woke Up In The West" = Greenwich Time from Thirdshiftgrottoslack
Thanks Big Daddy, For telling me the title of the opener. If you could now tell me where "Woke Up In The West" originated? I would very much appreciate it.
Also I was very impressed with Mark. And to buker no one was playing keyboards last night, Mark played a lap steel guitar, it was not a keyboard. A lap steel is a smaller version of a pedal steel that usually sits on your lap, hence the name.
Anyone record the show last night?
In addition to wanting to hear it myself, I have a buddy who runs an ebay business selling CDs and he might be willing to work out a deal if your interested.
