Nice selection from the new album...Though I would love to hear Jukebox of Steel live.the art guy wrote:Here's the list, NOT in order. You may notice it's grouped by album, because that's how I remembered it all. (nothing from straightaways)
windfall
tear-stained eye
ten second news
hanging blue side
afterglow 61
bandages and scars
gramophone
the search
the picture
methamphetamine
underground dream
highways and cigarettes
action
dust of daylight
down to the wire
when the wheels don't move
dynamite
roll on
no turning back
cocaine and ashes
pushed too far
grindstone
feel free
big sur
looking at the world through a windshield

Yeah, here's my brief review: I've seen the Volt plenty of times (at least once per each album/tour), and this was the best show I've seen since the "old" version of the band. For one thing, the setlist leaned more heavily on "countrier" material than they've done the last couple times around. I assume that's due in part to Mark's steel, but it also seems like they're just having more fun playing that kind of stuff, where the Okemah and Search shows were definitely more straight-up rock. It was good.
In addition to "Windshield" and "Grindstone", we got "Ten Second News" (played on electric with full band; gave it kind of a Neil Young feel) and the final encore was "Are You Sure Hank Done it This Way". All the usual suspects were played too (Windfall, Tear-Stained, etc.), but I should mention that the new songs sounded great too (I think they played eight off ACD).
Good show. Catch them even if you're like me, and have been not quite as excited the last couple times.

Omaha Monday
Anybody else going to be at the "record release" show on Monday at the Slowdown?
