I get so ticked off at that jude plain rudeness. I went to see Josh Ritter once and during his very quiet song Wings there was two women talking next to me. In the end I said "Hey if you can't be quiet during the song then fuck off".
Their boyfriends weren't impressed when I told them to fuck off too. They moved away but I was lucky I didn't get an ass kicking that night.
If I'd been there .. I'd have your back
You observation is spot on ..
Agreed... though I've rarely had that problem myself - like, I saw Will Johnson last summer and through his quiet songs, the people near the stage were very respectful. Back by the bar there was a group of people talking, but it was far enough away that it wasn't distracting. You only actually noticed them between songs...
Ian MacKaye yelled at a bunch of kids when I saw Fugazi because they were talking through his tirade before Suggestion (song about how crappy men can treat women)... it was deserved. Even if you disagree, the man on the mic should be given the courtesy to speak without interruption.

My thoughts - it is a public forum and people will come and go. I'd like to think we can create a place where everyone can stick(y) around and have fun. Keep the political debates to specific threads and those who wish not to engage can ignore those threads... and its hard when those threads bleed out into other threads in subtle ways - i.e. slagging people in other threads who disagree with your POV from a different thread. Yes, sometimes its funny to hi-jack a thread, but not if it just turns into yet another shouting match. That's when things get irritating. I'm not pointing fingers because I have probably engaged in this - maybe we can all just be mindful that not everyone wants to sort through a million back and forths on a thread where they were hoping to read something else based on the subject title...
