My "better half" listens to Yngwie, Black Label Society, Dio, etc. And still stuck in the '80s, with Warrant, Poison, Motley Crue and all the rest.
Someone please help me. Are there shelters for this kind of abuse?
cheers

My wife likes some of "my" stuff, prefers UT and the older Son Volt to Jay's solo and new SV. Really likes the Bottle Rockets too. She also really likes REM (I do too), U2, and some of the other more mainstream bands that I like. That said, man, she likes some stuff that I just can't take, Jason Mraz is the one I just don't get. When she's got that on in the car, I try to think as hard as I can about work, just to get it out of my head!

Or this
Punk music on estrogen. Often acoustic guitar with soft, high male vocals that dwell exessively on the singer's feelings, especially melancholy remembrances of past relationships/mistakes in life. A form of music that diverged from punk in the '80s, the name "emo" is derived from the emotive style of the lyrics and music.

Teh wife is into James Taylor, Earth Wind and Fire, Pink, Cake, Antigone Rising, CSNY, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart (Old), Presidents of the United Stated of America, Natalie Merchant, and Brian Setzer. She can also inexplicably sing every song on the radio, and she never listens to the damn thing.
The great thing is that I never get any complaints at all about my music. From early Baroque to old Belleville, she grooves right along. My wife, what a lady.
