For the record, Jay was never contacted for the article in Spin. The editors will be printing some sort of statement about their unfortunate mistake.

Hahahaha.

lol.

Even when I made my previous post, I hadn't given it much thought, but now that you mention it, it does kind of ring true.

And I also just got through reading that book, so maybe I'm also a bit twisted in my thinking.

That certainly wasn't my intention but it rings true don't it? While relationships are unique between any two individuals...towards one another, I think you nailed it...

Perhaps my reading of Kot's book is too fresh in my mind.

I thought it was interesting after 10 years of critical success Tweedy still appears to be seeking Jay's acceptance (that may be too strong). At a minimum, it seemed like Tweedy kept tabs on an old friend and was disappointed Jay didn't do the same...or at least refuses to admit it.
I agree dEvRoNiKa's assessment.
From your comment here, you make Tweedy sound like a wimp and Farrar sound like an ass.

But maybe that was your intent.

What I have read is that Jay intentionally tries to keep clear of being cornered into giving opinions of Jeff’s latest stuff because he’s constantly asked what he thinks of it. I don’t think the refusal to comment about it is meant to be insulting or disrespectful, but just the opposite. Jay and Jeff should be able to have autonomous careers, but the truth is, people will always probably ask one about the other, and their opinion of each other’s work. It’s probably kind of annoying, especially after all this time and after their respective growth after Uncle Tupelo.

Tweedy on Farrar in new Spin...

Post by Down Watson »

I've been lurking on this board for awhile and am a huge fan of Farrar's music so I thought I'd post...

Did anyone read Tweedy's quote in the new Spin. He basically said that he read somewhere that Jay had never heard Wilco and Tweedy was really disappointed. He continued that he checks out Jay's work. Jay wouldn't comment for the story (big shock). Obviously, I'm paraphrasing...

For what it's worth, I think Jay's heard Wilco. Don't you ever Google old girlfriends to find out what happened to them?

Well, that ought to get me blasted...

Cheers.
