I never believed that was the real Jay posting after reading a article a while ago about him never checking the board.

This fake Jay started posting after my "A Message to Jay" post, which I knew the real Jay might not ever see, but thanks to that SFGATE article he probably saw my post because the fake Jay was telling me to "go outside and play".

Well fake Jay I wish I could go outside, but some of us here have jobs or at school and are forced to be behind computers. Getting on the internet is like turning on the TV if your at home.

FYI For anyone who actually thought that was really Jay.

I know none of us believed that, but this is from the SFGATE article:

"Not that he ever looks at it; Farrar is both an unapologetic Luddite and almost completely uninterested in what's being said about him. He is startled to be shown printouts of e-mails from the Web site's chat rooms written by someone claiming to be Farrar. In one message, his doppelganger tells the e- mailing fans to "turn off your computers and go outside."

"Hmm, it does sound like something I might say, but this is not me," he mutters, perusing the pages. "Sometimes people will circulate erroneous press releases saying Uncle Tupelo is getting back together. It is strange whenever I'm exposed to it, but I don't really live on the World Wide Web."

Farrar sighs. "I'm going to have to track this impostor down. At least he's not doing anything criminal. I don't think."

Maybe we should buy Jay an airplane so he can play more dates. Can't you get a single engine Seston for around $100k ? Him nd Mark could get their pilots' lisences.

Yeah-makes you wonder why he didn't. It would have been a long couple of days though: Play a show in Solana Beach Wednesday night, sleep there or drive up to LA that night/early Thursday. Do the Leno Show ( I think it tapes at 5:30 pm PST) in Burbank (about 20-45 mins to West Hollywood (The Troubador) for the show-Canyon opened at about 9 pm; JF went on at about 10 pm. Then, head north to San Francisco (about 6.5 hours on I-5) Whew, by that weekend he woulda been whupped!

duh...

Post by saratoga jay »

it boggles my mind that the producers for Jay Leno don't try to book Jay to play a song live on the Tonight Show while he's touring through LA.
think of all the lucky goobers and cityfolk who could possibly have a soulmoving Jay tune hit'em right in the heart one night as they're laying in bed with the wife, or in the lazyboy with the bong......out of nowhere.

but maybe they do ask and he just says no?

Although it may be 481 mi to SF from Solana Beach, you forgot there was a stop in LA at the Troubador January 22, '04) in between (about 90 mi from Solana more or less). Thus, there was time to post and possibly enjoy a chili dog at Pink's if he was up to it . . . . :P

The right click and save to your hard drive didn't work. They must be protected files.

Still be Around

Post by deadman »

I am so glad Jay played "Still be Around" at Slims in San Fran on 1-23-04. I got to hear a copy of it and that is such a great tune. The whole show rocked. Jay, you should come to Huntsville, AL.

If I understand your question...

You can just right-click on the separate audio files included with the interview and save them to your hard disk.

Anyone know if it's possible to copy the live performances from the interview on cd?

wondering

Post by myko1 »

I have been wondering myself, but haven't had enough guts to bring it up on the board. I figured the odds of the Jay Farrar username not being used by now are pretty slim and it must have been reserved.
On the flipside, I always read that he doesn't ever look at this site. Which is cool with me - I would hate to hear a song about the heartland of cyberspace.

That's my guess?

Take care folks.

That would be this interview on KEXP:
