Jay's voice seems to have gone through three stages.
1. His UT voice, low and rough
2. His 90's Son Volt voice, low and smooth
3. His Solo and recent voice, High and smooth
Of course there are the transitions from each voice. These are found on the Anodyne and Sebastabol albums.
I personally prefer the low and smooth voice.

Jay's voice
Does anyone think that the higher pitch in Jay's voice is a sign that he's starting to lose it a little? Or is that just the way he prefers to sing now. Personally, I like the way he sang during the Anodyne/Trace period a lot better. If this topic has already been gone over, I apologize in advance.
