Hey ya'll. I've been a lurker for sometime, but there are several threads I wanted to participate in, so I've registered. A ton of great shows already seen in the last few months and a ton more coming up over the next month or so.
A lot of you have mentioned Magnolia Electric Company. I saw them back in April at the Knitting Factory and was blown away. Bought their newest record, "What Comes After the Blues" and think that with the possible exception of "Cold Roses," that it is the best thing to be released this year. I can't wait until their August run through the Eastern seaboard. Oh, and their lap steel player, Mike "Slo-Mo" Brenner, is a friend of mine from Philadelphia. He's a great guy and a great musician. He's got his own band called Slo-Mo, and is a constant cog in Philadelphia's own Marah, maybe the greatest band you've never heard. Check 'em both out, and if you see Mike out on tour, buy him a beer. He's been away from home for a long time.

Trail of Dead kicks ass live. They're big into the loud/soft dynamic thing but when they go loud, they go LOUD. Lots of sweating, cursing and destruction. They opened up the stage and let about 50 people from the front climb up on stage with them for the encore. I thought they were great fun.
The new album didn't do much for me on the first couple listens but after a few more it just kept getting better and now I like it as much as Source Tags.
