Love Russell Banks
One of my favorite movies of all time "Affliction" is based on his book ... I also have a handful of his short stories, which are excellent.

Great, great book. Banks' best, at least of the ones I've read (Rule of the Bone, his short stories, something else I can't remember...).

I may be biased, however, as I lived for a while in upstate New York where it takes place. John Brown, what a guy.

I am reading "Perfume - The story of a murderer" by Patrick Suskind. I am a Nirvana freak & this book inspired Kurt Cobain to write the song "Scentless Aprentice" on In Utero. I just started it yesterday afternoon and cannot put it down. Very enthralling.

Before that I read Clinton Heylin's (sp?) Van Morrison bio "Can you Feel the Silence?" It was alright. 505 pages of this guy basically contradicting everything Van Morrison ever said in his life. I've got a soft spot for Van though.

And before THAT, "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. That was brilliant. Very sad though!

The Fountainhead - Ayn Rand (altruism is for chumps)
Medal Of Honor - forgot his name but its full of badass war stories (one guy killed 40 krauts in 20 minutes)
Adventures of Tom Sawyer - Twain
Adventures of Huck Finn - Twain (haven't read those last 2 in ages)
