The Visulite

Post by OldSchoolDropout »

Caught SV there on the Search tour, I thought it was a great little club. Acoustics were pretty good, nice bar with some microbrews on tap and a fair anount of seating options/barstools for before the show or those who don't want to stand.
It is also tiered with a decent size "pit area" if I remember correctly. Took a friend who was unfamiliar with Jay/SV and made a new fan that night. Still got the poster from that one the security guy gave me as we were walking out.

I'll be at The Visulite with my cousin (driving from Wilmington) and a buddy. We hope to score some cheap tickets to the Panthers/Eagles game the following day as well. Should be the makings of a nice weekend barring any "incidents". All bets are off when my cousin and I get together.

Has anyone been to the Visulite? How is the place?

Caught the Connell's @ the Mad Monk once. All we got here now is the Sweatbox, er I mean Soapbox. At least I can catch American Aquarium once in a while there.

Didn't used to be that way, the Mad Monk used to get great bands, i remember seeing Bob Mould there, Living Color, Bad Brains, Dillon Fence, Mary on the Dash, Johnny Quest. Those were the good ole' days but unfortunately the Monk burned down around '93 or so and it's sucked ever since.

Kenny, I'm below you in Holden Beach. Wilmington is dead man's land for the music scene. I took guitar lessons from a guy who plays in a band that all the members live in Wilmington and they list Raleigh as their home town.
He said the few clubs that are in town don't want to pay for anybody decent and there is also some deal with HOB that keeps the bands that play there from performing within so many miles of them (inc. Wilmington).

Come on to the Cat's Cradle show, I'll buy your 1st round -

Na, I won't get to make it for the Charlotte show. I was hoping for Raleigh, but extremely busy. We'll see. Whatever happened to a Wilmington show??!! It's time to make that happen!
