First of all, I apologize from being somewhat absent and distant from this thread. Been quite busy lately working as a waiter after the job furlough deal. Frankly, waiting tables wears my ass out. No excuse though, but I still on board and still tinkering with Barstow that Dev and I are doing.

I know I said June 20 or thereabouts was the deadline. I have several songs from a few people and so far these songs are great! So here's what I have so far that's been submitted...

Action - Megaballs1
Joe Citizen's Blues - dbenger69
Rex Blues - Dev and Tupelo Son
Medicine Hat - Tupelo Son
Creosote - Tupelo Son
Highwater - Sturgeongeneral
Hanging Blue Side - Stureongeneral
Dent County - Stureongeneral
Hard is the Fall - bellevillemusic
Tulsa County - bellevillemusic
Silocosis - thatbeat

Thanks guys!!! They sound great!

Ok here are the people that expressed interest.

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Just let me know. If some of you are still wanting to participate then we'll extend the deadline. I know I'm still planning to finish Barstow. Whataya think, August 1 a final deadline?? I'm game for suggestions.

Thank you to all the folks that were diligent. I hope to have more songs coming in from the others and I can't wait to hear them.

I'm sitting on this acoustic Creosote & vox. Anyone want to add something electric to it? more guitar? lap or pedal steel? fiddle? xylophone? PM me and I'll send a wav.

i submitted three for kenny's review:
-dent county
-hanging blue side
-high water
they are 'sparse' recordings with no flash or trimmings. of the three, i was most satisfied with dent county and high water(i was able to capture a little more acoustic fullness with high water). however, i will let kenny decide.

p.s. kenny, the best of luck with your employment endeavors.

In Memoriam

Post by Grifterwithafunnylittleha »

Not bad considering the news about Jaybee.

Me and Baby Doll were out on the coast all weekend laughing and found ourselves in Appalachicola, FL eating lunch, walked up to the courthouse after everybody went into the store; me and the dogs pranced up where judgement's made. I asked everybody, "Why's the flag at half-mast?"

"It's Memorial Day, Pony," said Baby Doll.

When I got ready for work on Tuesday I realized a tiny connection to the sadness. The sadness of everybody that ever knew Jay Bennett more than me. I cried like a baby when I read it. My best friend sent me a text that said, "Somebody in Wilco died?" I ran from my neighbor's porch and got on the Internet to find out what was happening. I ran out. I ran out. I ran out.

Baby Doll hugged me and I heaved weeping.

Love,
Grifter

p.s. My song is going allright. My song is going allright, I know my song is going to go alllllllllllll right!!!

Kenny, can you post the latest list of what everyone's doing?

I'm either gonna do Underground Dream or Streets That Time Walks.

I know have been away a lot from this thread, and it's because I too have fallen victim to the bad economy and have been laid off from my job.

Anybody in need of a Geologist?

Anyway, so far I've recieved songs from Sturgeongeneral, thatbeat, Tupelo Son and Dev., and megaballs (he sent in some good stuff, but is going to rerecord some things).

The songs are sounding great folks!!! Keep em coming!

I've got the guitar part for Barstow pretty much down, I just need to sit for one full day and finish the rest.

We also need to start thinking about cover art.

My wife's best friends husband is a geologist. He works for Exxon down here in Houston and makes a shitload of money. He gets to travel all over the world as well...

Boring motherfucker but he loves his job...Only guy I know (non musician) who truely loves what he does.
