Features

The Features! Holy cow! Glad to hear they are still at it and touring nationally. I used to see them on a regular basis in Murfreesboro, TN back when Spongebath (around 1997-99 or so) records was there (along with other great live bands The Katies, Self, The Roaries, C60s). These guys all rocked and had great energy. Too bad Spongebath folded.

There was a really young Spongebath band that was the most energetic I EVER saw (they were a little more punky than the others)! If anyone can help me remember their name, I would be grateful. It's killing me...I remember seeing them in Nashville @ 328 Perf Hall around 1998 or so during a Spongebath showcase ...they just killed.

The Features

I just heard The Features for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Found out they are from Sparta, Tennessee, right down the road from me.

I like KOL, haven't got the new one yet. I have the EP and Youth and Young Manhood.

Do you think California Waiting sounds like a Blondie song? I think the guitar sort of sounds like Heart of Glass.

What do you guys think of these dudes? I saw them in '03 and really dug them, they were so full of energy. They were something different than a lot of the stuff that was out. They were pretty cool. The first album was great. The second album is really good as well, but not as good as the first I don't think.

I went and saw them friday night in OKC, expecting that same energy, but was ultimately dissapointed. They played a good show, but I just didn't "feel" it like I did when I saw them before. I don't know, I wasn't real impressed. They are a lot less raw now, which was part of it, they are becoming these "mass marketed rock stars" to an extent, I mean they had a 20 page write up in Rolling Stone. I guess all that is affecting what I liked about them in the first place.

The opening act was better than KoL in my opinion. It was The Features, and they are awesome. Check them out at http://www.thefeatures.com/

Just thought I would share.
