That's when me and the girlfriends wished we lived in L.A. so we could casually bump into Axl or Slash..
Now I do, close to action of yesteryear and could care less.
This town is completely wasted on me!

But I'm happy for all the records in my collection..cheesy or otherwise.
I don't see any reason why Siouxsie, Echo, Depeche Mode and The Cult (or Guns/Metallica/Crue/Ratt/etc.) can't peacefully co exist within my fandom. They do. It's worked out well over the years.

A few years after that is was all about Throwing Muses, That Dog, The Breeders, Bikini Kill, Suddenly Tammy..I got really into Rocket from the Crypt. All the boys in my crowd were into "Lagwagon" and I noticed that's who that Jon Snodgrass fellow who posts here was touring with recently. The guy from Lagwagon. (I watched the videos)
I not so sure I was ever played any of their tunes, but I had friends who were super into Lagwagon.
I mostly remember them wearing the tee shirts:-)
Must speak with some of the old crowd and see if they were into Armchair Martian too. I'll bet they were as the name sounded very familiar to me when I first heard it mentioned.

Remember the album they put out before "Electric" (I think it was the one before "Electric")
It was a lot less Rock/guitar influenced.
I think. It's been so long. Don't have time to do all the googling right now.
Can't remember what it's called, but I remember it was perfect timing for The band to kind of change their sound a bit as we too, were changing in fandom and becoming lot more straight ahead Rock N' Roll oriented in our listening.
Ya know...putting our Siouxsie and the Banshee records aside and listening to more Guns N Roses- kinda thing.
But that less 'Rock Oriented' record was really good too.
Don't remember the single off of it right now..know I really liked it.
It got played on the radio in NY. No MTV. That was more the "Electric" era and the one after that.
Research all of this later...Curious to refresh the memory.

Edit: "She Sells Sanctuary" off the album Love. Not quite as Rockin, Memba??

Love is the album released before Electric, however they recorded different versions of most of the songs on Electric, didn't like them, and rerecored them with a different producer. The alt versions have been released piecemeal. There's a picture disc called "The Manor Sessions" which has most of the tracks. There were a few which didn't show up on Electric, but are really great: Zap City, Love Trooper, Groove Company, and Conquistador.

Damn, now I've had The Cult running through my head for the past 24 hours with few options to satisfy the ever growing need to hear them as my Cult records are all safely alphabetize under "C" in my collection of vinyl back at my folks house in NY (along with my turntable)
I suppose I will be reverting to youtube videos eventually when I have more time to devote to listening. Probably later this evening.

living in a shack in a one horse town
trying to get to heaven before the sun going down
Something Something bottle..YEAAAHHHH

livin in a haze for 40 days...

I obviously don't remember all the lyrics...

It's been a long time. Refreshing my memory will be a very welcomed activity...Soon. Got shit to take care of right now.
Someone else's Rock N' Roll, no matter how *GREAT* it is, must be put on pause while I take care of some more pressing Rock N' Roll matters.
Can't wait though! Hopefully tonight.
I have a LOT to listening to do actually.
All the Son Volt stuff up on myspace.
The Bottle Rockets up on myspace.
Even the new Wilco. Gotta catch up!

I have the same set. "Zap City" is a classic. Love that tune.

Fire woman you're to blame!
Yes, in Portland, Oregon. The plastic statue of Justice fell down 1/2 through the show - like something right outta "Spinal Tap."

I was actually in the front row for the Cult/Billy Idol show.

SRV, I was about half way back on the floor.

Good times!

That is nowhere near the oddest bill I ever saw though, which was SRV opening for Huey Lewis and the News...

And no...I did not stay for all of Hueys set.

Dude, we might have been sitting next to one another at both of those shows for all we know!1 Then, over 20 years later, we meet via Jay Farrar. Small, strange world...

No 'Love' shows close enough... damn.

That's a strange one, indeed.

Lollapallooza changed all of that, I think...now acts just team up and go on the raod, regardless....but "back in the day" that shit was just....well.....odd.

Oddest bill I think I ever saw was INXS with Guns n Roses, The Smithereens , and Ziggy Marley at Texas Stadium.
