The only thing I can equate this to is how you old bastards must have felt when UT broke up (I was 13 and too busy listening to Buffett, the Eagles and George Strait - times change). I know it's not technically the same as the DBT's will remain in existence, but my heart literally sank when I read the news on Isbell's Myspace page. I couldn't believe it.

However, hopefully it will be a good thing. Hood and Cooley will always be the DBTs no matter who else comes and goes. And Isbell was by far the most talented member of the band, and he certainly will be missed, but he needs to forge his own path. Hopefully, he can create something just as kick-ass and awe-inspiring as the Truckers. That would give me another favorite to follow. I guess we'll see.

If Isbell leaving means more of the Stroker, then I raise a glass and say don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!.
Good luck playing for 50 people in small clubs on the solo tour.
I hope more than 50 people turn up for the Son Volt shows this month
they have been doing okay so far.

This sucks a mop!!!!
Decoration Day and Outfit, and Danko/ Manuel are 3 of the best songs written in the last 5 yrs imo.
I think Patterson's control freak nature has something to do with this.

Couple of points:

-Jason will be fine on his own, he'll probably still play his DBT songs on his solo tour, so don't fret about that.

-DBT rocked hard before Jason, and they will rock hard after Jason, so don't fret about that either.

-I have been in noone's pants but my own, and I've been in them all by myself. You may fret about that one.

DBT's are in my top three shows of the past 3 years(even surpasses Son Volt from a live perspective). Decoration Day is my DBT recorded highpoint and Outfit, Marry Me, and Loaded Gun in the Closet are my faves from that record. I thought Isbell added to their live dynamic and I will miss that element of the DBT's. Maybe, Brad Rice is sick of the bland Urban crap and will audition to replace Jason.

Probably the biggest musical let down for me since A Ghost Is Born. Even Jason's songs were bland. And I thought every song of his from Decoration Day and the Dirty South were perfection.

Not for you. Please close the door behind you on the way out.

It always seemed to me that Jason should have his own band anyways. The same could be said for Cooley. Also, aren't Jason and Shonna married? How is that going to work?

By the way , is it now ok to talk about other bands here?
