the final straw...
Crystal meth use in US twice higher than estimated
Jun 15 04:55 PM US/Eastern
Crystal methamphetamine use among young American adults is twice higher than previously estimated, according to National Institutes of Health (NIH) research published Friday.
Also known as "ice," "crystal," "glass," and "tina," crystal meth is a highly addictive, inexpensive, colorless stimulant that affects the central nervous system.
Typically smoked, it is used by 2.8 percent of young adults aged 18-26, according to the revised results of a 2001-2002 study conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, part of the NIH.
The initial research had found crystal use at 1.4 percent among adults aged 19-28.
"This new information gives us a clearer picture of use among young adults, but also raises new concerns," said NIH Director Elias Zerhouni.
"Even occasional use of crystal methamphetamine is associated with multiple health and social risks, including a negative impact on families as well as straining emergency departments and law enforcement resources," he added.
The new NIH study found crystal users are "disproportionately white and male" and live mainly in the western part of the United States. Native Americans, it also found, were 4.2 times as likely as whites to use crystal.
"Users also tend to have lower social economic status, use other substances, such as alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine, and the male users are more likely to have had incarcerated fathers," the NIH said.

So, was this Jay's inspiration for his song:
Man chronicles his death by meth use
35-year-old made documentary to warn others off highly addictive drug
Updated: 7:29 p.m. ET March 27, 2007
ST. LOUIS - A former trucker whose documentary chronicled an agonizing descent as methamphetamine ravaged his body has died, optimistic to the end that his story would keep others from the highly addictive stimulant.
“He was extremely satisfied, wanting to do more in getting the word out and showing kids what meth harm does. We didn’t get to that point,” his father, Jack Bridges, said shortly after the 35-year-old died Monday at a hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Are you going to Atlanta for the VOLT show? What's confirmed. They'll be lucky to sell-out.
I'm dying right now from work cancer.
But, the key beauty is I have to be at a wedding the next day in Boone, NC.
Historical friends, kind of like you.

Agreed. Okemah had a few very good songs (Bandages and Scars, Gramaphone, etc) but this is a better record.

Bad by U2
and another gem by the boys over at U2
Running To Stand Still
And so she woke up
Woke up from where she was lyin' still.
Said I gotta do something
About where we're goin'.
Step on a fast train
Step out of the driving rain, maybe
Run from the darkness in the night.
Singing ah, ah la la la de day
Ah la la la de day.
Sweet the sin, bitter the taste in my mouth.
I see seven towers, but I only see one way out.
You gotta cry without weeping, talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice.
You know I took the poison, from the poison stream
Then I floated out of here, singing
Ah la la la de day
Ah la la la de day.
She walks through the streets
With her eyes painted red
Under black belly of cloud in the rain.
In through a doorway
She brings me white golden pearls
Stolen from the sea.
She is ragin'
She is ragin'
And the storm blows up in her eyes.
She will suffer the needle chill
She's running to stand still.

Mirror, mirror on the wall
The face youve shown me scares me so
I thought that I could call your bluff
But now the lines are clear enough
Lifes not pretty even though
Ive tried so hard to make it so
Mornings are such cold distress
How did I ever get into this mess
Im snowblind, cant live without you
So fine I just cant get away
Now Im snowblind, snowblind, snowblind
Harmless and innocent you devil in white
You stole my will without a fight
You filled me with confidence, but you blinded my eyes
You tricked me with visions of paradise
Now I realize im
snowblind
The face youve shown me scares me so
I thought that I could call your bluff
But now the lines are clear enough
Lifes not pretty even though
Ive tried so hard to make it so
Mornings are such cold distress
How did I ever get into this mess

I humbly submit , from Mr. Todd Snider (i assume he wrote it ?). Very touching song.
Waco Moon
From New Connection
Yellow Rose
Waco Moon
Quit too late you're gonna die too soon
Woman with a needle and a silver spoon
Holed up singin' the devil's tune
Playin' the blues, payin' your dues
Speedin' your young life away
I never will get over what I heard about you
The first thing New Year's Day
I can't say I felt so sad
The truth is I think I'm mad
At the selfish way you left your dad
When you know what a hard luck time he's had
Sleepin' through a dream come true
You just threw all that talent away
I never will get over what I heard about you
The first thing New Year's Day
Ooooo hoooooo
Slippin' away
Ooooo hoooooo
New Year's Day
I threw the phone against the wall
Falling apart when I got the call
I went out walkin' with the weight of it all
That's when it hit me like a waterfall
I'm playin' the blues, payin' my dues
Speedin' my young life away
I never will get over what I heard about you
The first thing New Year's Day
Ooooo hoooooo
Slippin' away

To the bitter end tried and true
Goodbye old friend
We'll be missing you
