people are always to eager to press their opinions on everyone. it gets ridiculous. people need to learn how to voice an opinion without being self-righteous.
imo, jay's music is great. it's his life and his career. let him do what he wants with it. i'll support it so long as he's releasing good music, even if he makes a decision that i feel is bad.
anywho

Let's keep it up people, I can feel the love.
It's as simple as it's always been - don't like it, don't buy it.
On the other side of the coin, no reason one can't be upset with the "reunion", why call it son volt when it's not? Lennon with 3 other cats don't equal the beatles. stand on your own new band, start fresh.
On the other side of a new coin, ain't our band, so we got no say.

mebbe they just couldn't think of a good name for a new band. writer's block or somthin'

everyone faces what they deserve

hey Mark -

....actually - I just wanted to see if it would ignite a response -

in retrospect - you're right - an artist should create from his/her own and always try to move forward - even though labels have always dictated to their signees (or tried to) - as a "fan" in general if I don't like what I'm hearing I move on right?

I guess I just take offense at me being a "po baby" for being disappointed in the SV reunion that never was - again, I don't care what went on to axe the sessions, is it a crime for us to want more of a good thing???

and I take the "space junk" comment back - that was a cheap shot that missed wide.....

I didn't think they were very ambiguous. Are you going to be in town for any of the recording? Diesel Island plays the 23rd at Fred's, it could get kind of kooky.

Hey Mark -

You left off a choice on your poll -

D:) I liked their music?

I am all for progression; but I am also a fan of Son Volt - and I am guessing 95% of all the other posters here - I don't really care what happened from a "business" aspect; all I care about as a "fan" is that I won't get more of what I want to listen to. I am eager to hear the new band - I'm sure I won't be disappointed (however I'll miss your contributions). But you (and Jay) might want to consider this message board forum as more of a marketing survey - as we are "consumers who fund your existence", you may want to at least acknowledge the fact that SV (and I mean the original 4 members) has/had a serious following - hence "marketability" or in other words "paycheck". OK, it's not about the money, it's the music - but let's face it - "space junk" material won't finance your hobby for very long -

Keep up the ambiguous metaphors - they're good for at least 235 posts.

Let the flaming begin.....
