Yeah, I liked Marshall Crenshaw better than H&O, but my friends didn't know who he was. Didn't these girls watch MTV? That's where I found out about him (and X, and the Violent Femmes, and the English Beat, and XTC, etc.)

"Travellers and Magicians." It was made by a Tibetan Buddhist monk, Khyentse Norbu. He made "The Cup", too, which I haven't seen. Also saw "Mondays in the Sun," a Spanish movie, on dvd.

Don't see many movies in the theaters. Or on dvd for that matter. Guess I read too much.

Oh, yeah, I forgot -- you CAN burn songs from Library of Congress collections because music, photos, etc. created or recorded by the government is in the public domain. That's why that picture of Elvis and Nixon shows up so often -- it's one of the few Elvis pix that isn't controlled by the Presley ...

Re: Library cards and CD burners

Can I justify copying the cds I check out from the library as "a liberal inturpretation of fair use laws" or am I just kidding myself? Sorry, Arch, but you're kidding yourself. Copying complete songs, let alone cds, is copyright infrigement. Period. Even if it's just for personal use. Hey, my libra...

Yes! And if you ask nicely, the librarians may buy more cool cds based on your requests.

So sez the librarian.

Got two cats, Emmylou (aka Lulu, LuluBelle, The Mighty Huntress, Shut-up-and-get-yer-own-damn-breakfast) and Gypsy (aka Flippy, Dippy, Flippy Dip, Fluffy, Fluff-for-brains, The Hairball Apparent). Emmylou likes to snuggle in my arms when I take a nap. Can't do that with a german shepherd (though my ...

This topic seems more like brushes with fame than claims to fame, but here goes: Shared an elevator with Pete Rose Met John Waters and he complimented me on a vintage hat I was wearing Slept in the same house as Richard Buckner (big house, different bedrooms) and had dinner with him (nice guy) Met I...
