I had a 1984 Jetta GLI that I put 150,000 miles on. Some kid still gave me $2000 for it. I also had a 1986 Jetta base model that was probably the most solid car I ever owned. I drove it for 5 years and put nothing but gas and oil into it. Then kids came along and we did the mini-van & SUV thing for ...

The bit about musicians on drugs from the Tool CD was the late, great comedian, Bill Hicks. In fact, I think they dedicated the album to him.

If you have not heard him, I suggest you check him out.

Gang of Four Cover

Does anyone have a recorded Uncle Tupelo show that includes them covering "I Found That Essence Rare" by Gang of Four? If so, I would love to get a copy. I have nothing to trade, but would gladly sends some blank CD's or cassettes and cover the shipping costs.

Tim Easton/Rosavelt

I caught Tim Easton & Rosavelt at Mohawk Place in Buffalo, NY last night. They are touring a la Jay & Canyon, with Rosavelt opening, then acting as Easton's back-up band. Tim was brilliant as always and Rosavelt was a pleasant surprise - think Cracker meets The Replacements. They are touring to road...

William Elliott Whitmore

A friend turned me on to a CD called "Hymns For The Hopeless" by William Elliott Whitmore. It's very dark & rootsy and the guy has this great gravelly voice. There is not much information about him on the net. Does anyone know anything about him?

I just picked up their latest release, "Circles". It's a great CD, but nothing like UT or Wilco. It's more of a folksy/pop sound. The song that they have been playing on Music Choice, "Some Kind of Fool" is sort of like Yo La Tengo meets the Beach Boys. Some of the background instrumentation reminds...

Although I have never seen it on the racks in my area, Harp must be as they sponsored Jay's tour. I am unfamiliar with Paste.

I just picked up a new music magazine called "Tracks" that wasn't half bad. Their first publication just hit the racks. Their tag line is "Music Built To Last". It's hard to say how they will be over the long term, but if their first effort is any indication, they should take a bite out of RS. They ...

It was definitely the Flamin' Groovies on an album of the same name. It's worth checking out. They kind of invented Brit Pop about 20 years before there was such a term.

Took a break to get that far
Like the sound of a hundred dollar guitar
Bought from an old catalog
Yesterday's dust and heartache
