I could be wrong, but I believe it's Jeff Tweedy. Enjoy the show!

Sad to see the epic year of high volume, high energy SV rock shows end with the Pensacola show. Hope Jay and the rest of the band are able to get some well earned rest and enjoy some time with their families. Hoping too that after the duo shows in the Spring they'll crank it back up again. Could not have enjoyed more this year's live shows--the NOB tunes were fantastic live, as were the rest of the songs Jay chose to include in the set--10 Sec News and Bandages and Scars!!!

Next summer is not too soon to crank it back up again! I know Jay says he has new material in the works. Some of that, some of the newer tunes, mine the back catalogue--and return to the road!

Thanks to Jay and the band for a fantastic 2017!

Other half of duo? Why has this not been announced? Is it really still up in the air? Ticket buyers have a right to know, even in advance. Why the mystery?

It's probably Gary Hunt... he's toured with him extensively as a "duo" in the past.

Thanks Squishy--I was hoping for Mark Spencer.

Mere speculation on my part that it's Gary... I have no inside intel. Just going off the most recent "duo" tours I've seen.

I wouldn't mind if it were Mark.... or Ben Gibbard, or Jim James... or... Jeff Tweedy! Wink

What's wrong with Gary Hunt, if he's the other part of the duo - he's a phenomenal guitar player, isn't he?

They are both good guitar players, no doubt.

Just listen to Live in Seattle and you'll know why we want Jay and Mark to tour together....
Gary is totally solid and versatile but Spencer brings the heat!

Son Volt's Facebook page just announced the upcoming Jay Farrar show as "Jay Farrar Duo w/ Andrew Duplantis." Not sure if this means that the other half of the duo is Andrew Duplantis, or if Duplantis is opening the show for Farrar and his as-of-yet-unknown accompaniment.
