Careless Reckless Love is my fave Jay track on the album right now. Thanks, team Coco! _________________ learnin the ropes ok |

Is anyone else struck by the beauty of Jay's backing vocals on 'Fly High'? Really nice harmonies in that one.

How great is Careless Reckless Love? Its so smooth and I think its simplicity catches what Wood might have had in mind more than any. Really, I love most all of them. I woke being haunted by Chorine My Sheeba Queen. I dig Revolutionary mind, VD City, Talking Empty Bed, Angel's....Its good stuff that I'll dig in Old LA March 7th.
Tallman, how you been? Schuck, who love's ya baby? Dev's swooning I'm sure _________________ Up in that blue heaven

Talking Empty Bed Blues is great too... Careless Reckless Love is beautiful.
Are some of these in an "open" tuning? A couple of strums on "Hoping Machine" remind me of "Medication".
this is some killer stuff. hopefully Jay can pull a few of these out at the SV shows. |

I'm thinking Hoping Machine is open C, like Medication and many Jay tunes...Drivin' the View, Feed Kill Chain, The Void with Gibbard, etc.
New Multitudes sounds open also
Also, a few years ago I got to speak with Anders P and I asked about his tunings. He said he sometimes dropped the G string down to F. I didn't think he was playing me, it would be funny...either way Anders definitely works with alternate tunings and you hear it on "Old LA". Sounds a little like " Sara".
I'd be surprised if "Angel Blues" is standard tuning. Anders is a real musician and craftsman.
Am I to understand there's a second deluxe CD with more Jay tunes than these two? How sweet _________________ Up in that blue heaven

?? I don't think so. If you are referring to the VPR show with Anders I took it to be a reference to the deluxe edition (the one where it is all Jay and Anders tunes). If you're talking about something else, it sounds good to me! |

Just going by this from the news page
"Set to coincide with the centennial celebration of Woody Guthrie’s birth year, New Multitudes will be released on February 28, 2012 by Rounder Records as a 12 track release and a 24 track limited edition. The limited edition features original Guthrie lyric sheets, the 12 track release,
and 12 additional compositions recorded by Farrar and Parker." _________________ Up in that blue heaven

Okay, we're talking about the same thing. There is a single CD (which is/was streamed), and then there is the deluxe. (It's not 2 deluxe's (if that is a word). |

I've never been a fan of MMJ, and arbitrarily changing one's name from Jim James to Yim Yames is ridiculous, but his songs on New Multitudes are KILLER. All of them. I'm really, really impressed -- not to mention surprised. All four of these guys have really hit it out of the park.
