With Wilco, even the stuff I dont like that much on the albums sounds great live. They really are one of the best live american bands going.

That song they did on Colbert was awful pish. Is that on the album? Holy Cheesus.

Laughing I dig 'Wilco The Song'. It's fun. Fun and self-deprecating. Both of those are good things. Many Wilco fans like fun and not taking themselves too seriously. Smile

Doug, your thoughts?

The still-untitled Wilco album has been mastered, and the sequence is as follows:
Wilco The Song
Deeper Down
One Wing
Bull Black Nova
You And I
You Never Know
Country Disappeared
Solitaire
I'll Fight
Sunny Feeling
Everlasting

I have a very good feeling about this album. It is getting a lot of positive feeling at VC too. Wilco The Song, One Wing, Sunny Feeling, Solitaire, Everlasting and You and I have gotten live run outs with Wilco and/or Tweedy solo. They are good songs. Some rockin' tunes among them. I am looking forward to the release but I could be wrong...

June 30th. If you are interested, here is a link to a short Rolling Stone article from a couple of months back. It is a 'first listen' review of the album.

That Minus 5 album is cool. I was surprised that Scott McCaughey and Tweedy didn't do a tune or two from it when I saw Scott open for Jeff.

Wow.

"Wilco the Song", eh?

Well, jeez, Tweedster's finally come up with a great song title and really beaten Jay to the punch.

I'll be crying in my coffee wondering why Jay didn't come up with "Son Volt the Song"... oh wait, he did. It's called "Windfall".

Interesting! A week before American Central Dust.

You know the media will have a field day with the comparisons between the two... Talk about a major pissing contest!

But then again Jay needs all the press he can get... I wonder if Rounder Records chose that day on purpose knowing Wilco would be releasing theirs a week before? I doubt you will read one Son Volt article that wont mention the Wilco album as well.

Again not having heard the Wilco album, but going with my gut, I think Jay wins this pissing contest... Everyone loves an underdog story and you just know the press will play that card.

Regardless I cant wait to buy both. ACD just gets better with every listen.

Adds Tweedy, "It's really our best record yet."

Thats never a good sign... Michael Stipe said that about REM's Around the Sun.

Jeez Louise! They're havin' a laugh! Fun. It's just a different head than SV. Not better, not worse. Just different. Ah well. Let the fun begin. What evs.

They BOTH are EXTREMELY gifted and talented. Without each other then the chances that neither would be where they are today is overwhelming. Incredible musicians such as both bands have in their line up, both old and current members, is something that happens once a generation, we are very fortunate this time around the ride, fortunate indeed.

Bless them both to many years of song writing. The world needs it.
