Well, I'm not going to appoint myself the spokesman for "the right", but here's a few of my opinions:
-Bombed-out aspirin factories aside, Clinton was nearly asleep at the wheel while terrorists launched a war against the country. Looking to serve warrants after the first WTC bombing... as we can now see... was just not an effective response. There were several botched attempts to take out Osama... and at least one offer to turn him over to US custody that was outright refused.
-Pulling out of Somalia, tail between the legs. If you commit to an action like that, see it through.
-Lack of action against genocide in Rwanda <or too little, too late>.
-Clinton purjured himself. If I commit purjury while battling a traffic ticket <or some piddling offense>, I will likely serve jail time.
-BJ's in the oval office. Now I really don't care about his marital shortcomings, we all have our demons. But come on... in the Oval office?
Again... just one man's opinions...
-Shuck Owens |
Um, that was pretty weak. Blow jobs in the Oval Office? Perjury? I will agree that those type of things make me resent Clinton's presidential run a bit, but thats all you got? I agree, lying to the American public is wrong...whether its on the stand denying sex acts (or disputing the definition of the word 'sexual relations') OR in a press conference talking about WMD's. A lie is a lie. Clinton, at worst, was personally immoral. Bush seemed to lie repeatedly and got us into a war...that's a step above lying about a blow job.
Now, if you want to get into how Clinton ordered that bombing in Bosnia or Iraq about a week after his BJ news broke, then we can talk...you win on that one.
A dyed-in-the-wool Republican like Richard Clark (hired by Reagan!) pointed the finger at who really dropped the ball on bin Laden: President Bush. Also, the Republicans armed the guy in the first place, same thing goes for Sadaam.
Lack of action for Rwanda? I thought that was the UN's job, but I will give you that one...I agree that more should have been done to stop that genocide...Rwanda was the world's biggest human crisis likely ever, yet nobody really knows about it or about the nearly 900,000 people who died there.
The first point you made about terrorism..."nearly asleep?" If Clinton was "nearly asleep" during the WTC bombings, what state was Bush in during 9/11? Comatose? Where are bin Laden, Mullah Omar, etc. now? That is sleepy.
I guess what I am trying to say is that there must be something ELSE about Clinton you hate...perhaps its his wife, how well liked that he was, his personal morality (or alleged lack thereof)...life in America seemed to be pretty easy during his presidency. Hell, gas even got down to under a dollar a gallon (heh). Also, I understand the criticism of Clinton for some of these things, and I even agree with people on some points.
The criticisms Republicans have about Bush are what I am really interested in. Do some Republicans around here resent Bush for Iraq? The economy? The bankruptcy laws? Rove and Novak? The Enron debacle? Do any of you move a bit left when thinking of these things? |

How about the wife of the Nation's worst President climbing atop the corpses to wag an accusatory finger, and position herself for her own Presidential run? There's your "cunt", right there. At least Mrs. Bush can claim possible senility for some mis-speaks. Mrs. Bush may have been referring to the fact that there are some actual jobs for the evacuees in Texas, and that the promise of a better life might lead to these folks not wanting to return to New Orleans at all?
There's my take on it! Flame on!

Of course Sentaor Bill Frist is down in New Orleans out of the goodness of his heart. It's just a coincidence that he's running for president in 2008. _________________ Villains who twirl their mustaches are easy to spot. Isn't Frist the one who actually broke the party line and was for funding of Stem Cell research. I don't much else about him but he deserves respect for having some common sense.
I just don't get why the right hated Clinton so much. The reasons Shuck gave were nothing compared to things GWB or Nixon did.
What about reasons people like GWB? What are there? Tax cuts? Gun laws? He is a good christian man? What actualy reasons related to their jobs as President makes them loved/hated?
I know 99% of it is just a party thing. if you are a democrat Clinton was God and Bush is the end of times and if you are a republican Clinton was the devil incarnate and Bush is like Jesus' little brother or something. It isn't that either side really looks at what the person did right or wrong, it is just their guy and they are going to support him and hate the other.

Senator Frist has donated a lot of his time and talent at home and abroad (such as performing free surgeries in Africa). Yes, much of it IS out of the goodness of his heart. One would think that something like that would garner a little respect from you people. |

agreed Tiny E, the guy doesn't have to be there at all.
One thing is for damn sure, I may be pretty much a left wing liberal commie pinko, but I would vote for Frist over Hillary without a moments hesitation. _________________ "I don't ever want to see (an Uncle Tupelo reunion) happen, and I don't think even what Perry Ferrell suggests will make it happen." -Jay Farrar |

He was against it, then changed his mind early this year. Frist is the one who has killed any serious campaign finance reform efforts. _________________ Villains who twirl their mustaches are easy to spot. How typical and arrogant. After a long and successfull medical career, Hank says Sen Frist now deserves some respect from the hippies working at Starbucks. And for what? Because he broke party line on an issue.
If you side with Independant Hank, you deserve respect and are given credit for common sense only when you side with the liberals.

I could totally take Barbara Bush in a wrestling match. I'd bounce her off the ropes, then drop kick her...then I'll do a flying elbow drop ala Macho Man Randy Savage from the top rope before applying the final pin. It'd be sweet.
If it was George, Sr., I'd probably do the same, but finish it off with the Superfly instead of the elbow drop... _________________ Bringing politics to music message boards since 2001. |

Yes, as a conservative republican politician he deserves some respect from me for not being a sheep like the rest of them and actually using some common sense on an issue instead of walking "lock step" with the rest of his party.
There is nothing arrogant whatsoever about that, nor did I reference his medical career in anyway, postive or negative. and there is no Starbucks where I live. _________________ "I don't ever want to see (an Uncle Tupelo reunion) happen, and I don't think even what Perry Ferrell suggests will make it happen." -Jay Farrar |
