I just watched The Last Waltz, borrowed it from a friend. I need to get my own copy. Great stuff! Every serious music fan should see it.

I've only got their Greatest Hits cd from a few years ago, I understand it's incomplete and people have quibbles with the tracks included but hey, it's a good sampler. Sooner or later I'll have to get into the proper albums but this'll do for now.

The Band is everything I love about music.

Best Band tunes you'll never hear on the radio:

1. Rockin' Chair
2. When You Awake
3. The River Hymn
4. Acadian Driftwood
5. We Can Talk

I just finished reading "This Wheel's on Fire" by Levon Helm. It's his story about being in The Band and seeing it all happen from the drummer's seat. It was a good read, Helm has a great sense of humor.

You have?

Beyond "Up on Cripple Creek", "The Weight", and "Life is a Carnival" I don't think The Band gets too much airtime. But hell, if they some getting some radio play, I'd be more than happy to stand (or sit as the case may be...is) corrected.

I've actually heard that song a few times on the radio. I think they released it as a single from Northern Lights-Southern Cross. A BeaUtiful song indeed. But maybe Norwegian radio and Canadian radio are slightly different? I also prefer to sit corrected, much better for my feet (who're carrying my 200 pound body, but I'm taking Brian's advice and will take the low carb route from now on)

Your english is superb (probably better than mine) but I really didn't think you'd know all of the American slang for prison. Joint, big house, slammer, pen, pokey.
