It's time for Solfesten here at Rjukan, Telemark. Rjukan this town of 4000 which I call home. A place with an unemployent rate at 3.5% although 27% are on some sort of welfare and not working added to those 3.5% Rjukan - The drug capital of Norway during the 80's, probably one of the worst places in the western world in the 80's actually, not only in Norway. Since then, it's been mostly down around this little town which was built by Sam Eyde in 1905 costing twice as much as the state budjet of Norway. The town that once held the two biggest power plants in the world. The town with the longest wooden staircase. The town where one of the biggest companies in the world: Norwegian Hydro was founded. The town that is by most people regarded as the most beautiful place in Norway. The town with the first electrical railway in Norway. All that's left is tracks no longer in use, a bunch of houses not longer in use, and a bunch of people who are addicted to heavier forms of drugs. And a wooden staircase which is still the longest in the world. Today is the Sun Fest - The return of the Sun, which has been away since early November due to the locality of this nowhere town in its cuntlike valley. Yes today is the day when 10 000 people come to the carneval, come to "The Whorehouse" as the town is referred to by visitors. It's the day when 10 000 people come to party their arses sore in this idiot infested town. Today, 10 000 people will consume 2 liters of 40%+ spirits each, it is the day that 100 people will be hospitalized because of it. It is the day when the police will do 50 succesful drugbusts, 1000 people will get into some sort of a fight, and 50 will be hospitalized because of it. It is the day when 5000 girls (3500 in the group 15-25) will dress up for one purpose only - to get laid. Laid by 5000 men who've pumped iron and trained for this occasion since August. There's a bunch of slutty girls out there just waiting for the right man to come along, and where's yours truly? The Fenry is sitting at home, well knowing that he cannot particiate in this big drinking/gangbang party because of his lack of dinero. The Fenry is pleased in one way to not participate in these primitive and barbaric deeds, yet also feels a great sorrow for not having the time of one's life out in the streets. It's the world's most hardcore party, it is in town, but Fenry's sitting behind the laptop as usual, writing lame-ass complaints and drinking beer that his father couldn't manage to drink up before leaving for the fuckfest. Tomorrow I'll have a new stepmother.. again.
Think I'll try to call the girl I love again, and hope she'll answer. If not, there's a record called Trace... |

| Interesting. I had to look up where Rjukan is situated and I saw some pictures and it does look amazing! Personally, I have a problem being around 2-litres-40%-drunks so I'll probably won't visit the place during the solfesten. Best of luck with the girl you love! |

Thanks BoogieWoogieMan! Btw I also have a problem with people that drunk. Last time I rambled the streets of Oslo I was that drunk, no good.
Jay has a shirt with the name Rjukan attached to it. Cool
An incase you guys wondered, I'm drunk right now. Very drunk indeed. |

Solfesten sounds like my kind of party!
Mind you, last night down my local wasn't too bad...
We made the landlord turn the music up REAL loud and put loads of Sex Pistols numbers on...
But now my head is pounding.
As are the heads of 10,000 Norsemen! |

I bet if I took a walk outside right now, I'd be stumbling through a maze of broken glass, used needles, shoes, and half-eaten hamburgers. I think I'll wait until someone cleans this mess up
Oh btw: She didn't pick up the bloody phone |

You should've seen what the old farts could do with turbocharged wheelchairs!
I can't help but thinking: No way they stopped at 5 schnapps. Just look at those faces - Are those the faces of soberty? I think not. |

the dude on the far left (who's not cleverly disguised as a member of Kiss ) is the father of a girl who went to my class and also the local head of culture or whatever his title might be.
This town concists of a bunch of Kiss impersinators, so this is really an everyday event. I think they're not so much in it for the music as they are for the make-up, high-heels, and skintight leather-trousers though |

It's gotta be nice living in a town where the head of culture is a Kiss impersonator
I have to say that Kiss is a band I hate almost as much as I hate the Corrs, U2 and Richard Gere |
